Greetings from Dublin Township, Swift County, Minnesota USA!
Summer is almost over, and fall is fast approaching approaching, arriving September 22, 2022, here in the Northern Hemisphere. This blog is short, with a few highlights from this summer. I’ve include links to blogs and stories at the bottom of page of highlights from this summer.
Do as I say about packing and planning trips to Ireland, and not what I do.
Packing and planning for international travel is especially difficult with news headlines include lost luggage, delayed, or cancelled flights, stranded passengers, all adding stress to international travel, including travel to the island of Ireland.
I’ve put together a list from official tourism travel websites from both countries in Ireland, Ireland.com, and other resources to lessen the stress of air travel. Northern Ireland has an official tourism website, Discover Northern Ireland. View and download a map of Ireland from Tourism Ireland, and more publications for inspiration and trip planning.
I’ve just released another video in the Dublin Diaries series for July 23, 2023. This is short video to encourage you to subscribe to my monthly newsletter, if you haven’t already. If have already subscribed, thank you! Listed below on this page are more details about subscribing the newsletter, including a curated listed of resources to help jumpstart your Irish family history. Please see below for more details about the newsletter. Newsletter subscribers will receive first updates to Jannet L. Walsh’s forthcoming book on her American and Irish family.

The weekly newspapers in rural towns across America are the storytellers of local communities. They are a source of news found in no other location, and might not be published online.
The Kerkhoven Banner, established in 1896, is a weekly print only publication serving the communities of Kerkhoven, Murdock, Sunburg, and Pennock, Minnesota. Their staff first wrote about the early settlers in Swift County in the late 1800s traveling by horse and cart to report the news. It’s now 126 years of continued serve in the rural central Minnesota agricultural region, and the stories keep being reported.
