Just a little bit about myself
I am a student at St. Cloud State University, studying Public Relations and Marketing. I am the Events Coordinator for the SCSU chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America. I have a huge passion for both PR and business and hope to do both in a career someday. I am a total beach girl. I am obsessed with my yellow lab, Mondo, but if could I would have at least a dozen pets. I'm a huge foodie, as an Italian girl I think it sort of goes with the territory. I also enjoy fishing, photography, rollerblading and all types of music. I was exposed to many different genres of music during an internship with a concert promotion company and my love has only grown from there! This website will be a medley of all of my passions, everything from PR to food. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me from my website!
Sue McLean and Associates Internship
For the past two summers, I interned at the music promotion company Sue McLean & Associates. SMA brings high profile entertainment of all genres to the Twin Cities area. Working for this company has given me so many opportunities that I would have never had if I interned with another company. I was able to gain experience in the business world as well as in the music industry. I became involved in potential expansion research and strategic planning for upcoming concerts and events. I learned many effective social media techniques, advertising and marketing skills as well as event planning tactics. I also had the opportunity to communicate and assist artists and clients.
When I declared my major as Mass Communications with an emphasis in Public Relations, I became involved in the St. Cloud State University chapter of PRSSA. PRSSA offers many cool opportunities to meet with PR professionals, take tours of agencies and firms and participate in volunteer and fundraising events. Last year, we had the opportunity to take a trip to Chicago and tour agencies in the windy city. It was an unforgettable experience! I recently accepted as position on the Executive Board as the Events Coordinator. We are currently planning many exciting tours and fundraisers for the semester! Please feel free to contact me, am happy to answer any questions about PRSSA at SCSU!
Music in The Zoo Concert SeriesSubway Music in the Zoo is a summer concert series that Sue McLean & Associates has put on for over 20 years. The series is at the Minnesota Zoo. The events feature a family friendly environment for music lovers to experience an amazing and eclectic mix of high profile musicians along with up-and-coming buzz bands. In summer 2015, Subway Music in the Zoo had its most successful season with record sellouts! As an intern for SMA I had the opportunity to work at these events. I was able to assist with a wide range of responsibilities including merchandise selling, hospitality for artists and bands, intermission giveaways, and many others. The featured photo of Kacey Musgraves was taken at a Music in the Zoo concert by my coworker, Liza Rod, 2015.
PRSSA Takes On Chicago
I had the opportunity to travel to Chicago with my Public Relations Student Society. It was an amazing experience and we were able to tour both large PR firms and boutique agencies. I learned so much about Public Relations and all the different opportunities there are in the industry. Some of my favorite firms that we visited were Golin and G&S Business Communications. Touring PR firms in Chicago was an unforgettable adventure that really assured me that I had chosen the right major!
This is a photo that I took of my dog, Mondo. He is a 5-year-old yellow lab. Mondo is very friendly and loves to be around people, hunt and fish.
Music in the Zoo Promotional Video
Below is the first video that I have ever shot, interviewed and edited on my own. It is a promotional video I made for Subway Music in the Zoo in a Multimedia Journalism class. A special thanks to Patricia McLean, CEO of Sue McLean & Associates, for participating in this video!
